World Clock

World clock shows current time across multiple timezones simultaneously. Earth has 24 major timezones (UTC-12 to UTC+14), each roughly 15° longitude. Timezones offset from UTC: EST = UTC-5, PST = UTC-8, GMT = UTC+0, IST = UTC+5:30, JST = UTC+9. Daylight saving time shifts clocks forward 1 hour (spring) and back (fall) in some regions. For coordination: use UTC for absolute time, convert to local timezones for display. International date line at 180° longitude creates day boundary.

View current time in multiple cities around the world simultaneously. Live updating clock with day/night indicators, UTC offsets, and a meeting planner to coordinate across time zones.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the world clock update in real time?
The world clock uses the Intl.DateTimeFormat API built into your browser to calculate the current time in each city. It refreshes every second so the displayed times are always accurate. All calculations happen locally — no server requests are needed.
Can I add any city or timezone to the world clock?
Yes. Use the search bar at the top to find any IANA timezone (e.g., "America/Chicago" or "Tokyo"). The dropdown filters as you type. You can add as many cities as you like and remove any city by clicking the × button on its card.
What does the meeting planner do?
The meeting planner lets you pick a specific time in one city and instantly see what that time corresponds to in every other city on your list. This makes it easy to schedule calls or meetings across multiple time zones without manual conversion.
What do the sun and moon icons mean?
The ☀️ sun icon indicates daytime (6 AM – 8 PM local time) and the 🌙 moon icon indicates nighttime. This gives you a quick visual sense of whether it is a reasonable hour to call or message someone in that city.
How do I switch between 12-hour and 24-hour format?
Click the "12h" / "24h" toggle button at the top of the tool. In 12-hour mode times display with AM/PM. In 24-hour mode times display as 00:00–23:59. Your preference applies to all city cards at once.
How are the UTC offsets calculated?
UTC offsets are calculated from the difference between the local time in each timezone and Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). The tool accounts for daylight saving time automatically, so offsets may change when DST starts or ends in a particular region.
